Kumho Concept Tires

Tires are the main object between the car and the road. It is an unchangeable detail of any car. Unfortunately, all the tires are absolutely different and there is no universal model that fits any car and any weather conditions without the list of troubles attached. That’s why Kumho engineers developed a tires concept that makes it possible to find universal tires for any case, by changing the protector depending on road conditions.

Kumho Concept Tires

Kumho concept tires were rewarded with Italian A’Design Awards as a futuristic conception, because being without air inside they give a future direction for the whole industry. Instead of fixed protector, the surface of the tire is exposed to the changes and switching of the surface relief. It guarantees maximum traction with any surface, any road and any weather conditions.

To derive the water from tires and to avoid aquaplaning, the surface of the Kumho concept tires has specially developed three-dimensional moats. The location of the moats isn’t random, Kumho engineers and project team, using the computer simulation, tested the efficiency of the tire’s pattern.

If the car drives down the road to a road with worse conditions, the massive blocks on the tires become wider to increase the traction. For snow and ice conditions, Kumho concept tires have spikes that are hidden by another pattern in other road conditions. In order to accomplish their futuristic Kumho concept tires, the designers added the electronic engine that operates on hydrogen. The sizes of the Kumho concept tires will be 27.6 х 27.6 х 9.8 inches and their weight is planned to be 26.5 lbs.

According to the marketing manager in Kumho Tyre Australia, until the Maxplo can’t make this project real, Kumho concept tires will serve as a prototype for the future cars, in order to offer the customer ready-to-use product one day.
