Take your plane on safari

Are you planning to go on safari or just get away from the city for weekend? The DesignQ concept plane is perfect for that. The design shop with office in the UK developed the Explorer for BAE Systems (a global defense, security, and aerospace company). This concept is the first of four projects targeted at exploration of possibilities for the Avro Business Jet (ABJ) with the base taken from the repurposed BAE146 regional jet. The cargo door was readjusted and provides now a unique outdoor deck; it takes just a few minutes to open or close the deck by pressing a button.

Among other features, the plane is equipped with a barbecue station, a marble-floor entryway and a fully equipped office.

As for its interior, the jet has ample dining area, a lounge, two private staterooms and crew quarters. It is powered by four engines on the wings, though landing on grass, gravel or sand airstrips is possible as well – enables travelers to discover remote locations.

Initially, the concept was presented in 2010, but no safari-ready aircraft has been produced so far. The jet’s cost is some $6 million.
