Features that iOS 11 should have

Apple is likely to announce main specifications for its new iOS 11 during the annual developer conference slated for June. There are some features expected by users to be added in the updated OS.

End of beta for Voicemail transcription

Features that iOS 11 should have

When the company launched voicemail transcription in iOS 10, it was carried the title “beta”. It was a small capacity expansion for the smartphone, so the feature was welcomed. However, now it would be better to get full content of the voicemail. Along with boosted accuracy, the beta works well, but some improvements still can be made.

Souped-up Siri

Features that iOS 11 should have

Siri broke the ice in virtual assistants for smartphones. However, Apple’s rivals naturally entered that niche with Alexa, Cortana or Google Assistant, and definitely challenged Siri by functions.
Specifically, Siri still can be booked and expanded, including better integration with apps. For example, it now fails to follow even simple commands – “Post to Instagram”. With the current competition in the market, only hands-free way to control the phone is no longer an advantage, and the program has to perform various tasks with voice control.
Siri also should have the word Google in the voice commands to provide search results from Google instead of other services.

Google Photos hints

Features that iOS 11 should have

Google Photos offer numerous features that Apple’s Photos app cannot beat. In particular, unlimited cloud storage for photos under 16 MP, smart content search.
Thus, Apple might work on app expansion and introduce better keyword options for Photos. Of course, iOS 10 was updated with improved search service (auto-generated categories), though it would be better to have more smart categories and opportunity for manual entering of the description.
Another thing to add is simple exports Live Photos as GIFs or video. At present these tasks are done by third-party apps, so built-in engine to create such projects might be integrated.

Group FaceTime

Features that iOS 11 should have

Except for voice calls, FaceTime has got no improvements since its launch back on iPhone 4. The app offers one-on-one video calls, so a group call service would be more luring.
Besides, this will boost competitive advantage against Skype or Google Hangouts.

Chance to customize Control Center

Features that iOS 11 should have

Control Center, grey panel appearing after a swipe upwards from the bottom. The panel has shortcuts for the most common apps, including camera, clock, flashlight. With iOS 10, the functions have been expanded with right-side swipe for music control. However, everyone would appreciate ability to personalize that panel for his/her own specific needs – choose different tools or shortcuts to add.

Customizable default apps

Features that iOS 11 should have

Another dream is to be able to use default apps as browsers, music players, e-main agents, etc.
The market offers really alternative apps that work better and are more convenient than preinstalled ones. The company usually makes the key iOS updates in tandem with the release of its new flagship. This means that the new OS will be officially announced with iPhone 8 later this year. It remains to be seen whether OS faces strong rework under the 10th-anniversary of iPhone or not.
