Bright isle on Rotterdam’s streets

New McDonald’s pavilion can be now found in the heart of Rotterdam. Its construction took just two months. The project on Coolsingel Rotterdam was designed by Mei architects and planners. The previous pavilion on that place was found as the ugliest one in Rotterdam and failed to reflect all the ambitious and desires of McDonald’s and the city of Rotterdam in the whole.

The outdoor terrace will be equipped with the same furniture as in other public areas not to conflict with the surroundings.

The façade is made only of one material – gold anodized aluminum, which provides both warm and good-looking and vandal-proof and enduring.

McDonald’s is open 24/7. As a result, it is highly important how it looks both day-time and at night. In the course of the day, the pavilion attracts shoppers, but with darkness fall the nightlife crowd comes out. It has a perforated skin with hear-shaped opening through which the lights shine. Walls and ceilings are covered with this skin as well. The various degrees of perforation create the picture of a crowd of people on Coolsingel.
