American Helicopter AH-64A 'Apache'
Helicopter AH-64 (Model 77) was designed by "Hughes helicopters" to destroy enemy armored assets at any time and in the most adverse conditions. The prototype YAH-64 flew on September 30, 1975, and in 1981 it became known as "Apache". The first production helicopter "Apache" took off in January 1984. First deliveries were made in January 1985, and in December 1994 the last 811th helicopter was delivered to the US Armed Forces.

Helicopter AH-64A "Apache" is made for a single-rotor scheme with a four-bladed propellers and steering, low aspect ratio wing and tricycle non-retractable wheeled landing gear with a tail wheel. The wing is made removable. Fuselage has conventional design, made of aluminum alloys with high strength and toughness of materials.

The crew cabin is double with tandem seats. The armor protecting the cockpit from the bottom and sides, and transparent armor bulkhead between the seats are made of kevlar and acrylate resin and protect from bullets and shells 12.7 and 23 mm, respectively. Helicopter design provides maximum protection and allows you to perform a task after serious damage in combat. The high level of survivability is achieved by booking cockpit, using two independent hydraulic systems, fuel tanks, as well as the most important basic systems and airframe sections.

The power plant helicopter AH-64A "Apache" consists of two turboprop takeoff power at 1695hp placed in nacelles on the sides of the fuselage. The fuel system includes 2-sealing tanks with total capacity of 1157 liters. One of them is located behind the seat, and the other - on the main gearbox. The maximum flight duration is 3 hours and 9 minutes. In addition, on the wing of helicopter 4 external fuel tank capacity of 870 liters can be mounted. The helicopter is equipped with a non-retractable tricycle landing gear with a tail wheel. The chassis is designed for normal landing speeds of 3.05 m/s and an emergency landing speeds up to 12.8 m/s. Takeoff and landing pads can be made with having a tilt angle of 12° in the longitudinal direction and 15° in the transverse direction.
